Magnolia Book Award
The Magnolia Book Awards are given annually to the book voted by the children and teens of Mississippi as their favorite in four age categories. The purpose of the Magnolia Book Awards is to introduce Mississippi children and teens to current literature and to instill a love of reading.
Mississippi children in grades Pre-Kindergarten-12th grade are eligible to participate in the voting and nominating. Voting is held annually in February, with winners announced each Spring at the Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival.
Participating in the Magnolia Book Award voting process is a voluntary program. At Germantown Middle School, students who wish to participate will be required to read ( book, ebook, or audio) 4 of the 6 books on the 6th-8th list and complete a brief summary sheet on each book read and turn in to Mrs. Rogers in the library. Completing the 4 summaries will be the student's ticket into the voting/breakfast on a date that will be set for February. We have several copies of each book, but students may also read copies from the public library or book store.
