My name is Laurel Van Zandt. I am the 6th Grade Counselor this year at GMS!

Who is Miss VanZandt??! A little about me....

I am from Meridian, MS.

This is my 9th year as a School Counselor and I absolutely love what I do!

 

I earned my Bachelors degree in Educational Psychology at Mississippi State in Starkville. 

Next stop, I worked at Oxford Floral Company in Oxford for a few months. What fun!

I returned to school to earn my Masters degree in School Counseling at Mississippi State in Meridian. 

After graduation, I moved to Memphis, TN and worked as a school counselor at a middle school in Southaven for 7 years. 

Ultimately, I wanted to be closer to family, so I moved to Ridgeland during the summer of 2022 and worked at an elementary in Clinton. 

This year, I am beyond excited and feel incredibly grateful to join Madison County Schools

and the Maverick family here at Germantown Middle!!

FUN FACTS ABOUT MISS VAN ZANDT:

*I have enjoyed volunteering and serving my community since my high school days.

*I am a member of the Junior League of Jackson. 

*I am a 'Friend' (member) of the USA International Ballet Competition.

*I participated in four 5k's while living in Memphis, TN. I hate to run, but love to support a good cause!

*I attend First Pres, Jackson.

*I consider myself a "Bulldog on paper", but a "Rebel at heart" ~ HOTTY TODDY!

Favorite music: Disco/70's & 80's.

Favorite colors: Blues/Greens & Oranges/Pinks.

Favorite food: Sweets (especially chocolate), Pasta, Pizza, & Tacos.
